Rewarding Excellence in VideoGame Design and Creation

That VideoGame Blog is a leading online gaming news and review media outlet, and has been covering the videogame industry since 2007.

It is for this very reason that we are pleased to announce the TVGB Scholarship for Game Design. We understand that affording an education can be difficult, so we’ve set up this program to aid the aspiring video game designers and creators of the future.


TVGB is offering this scholarship to students in the United States who submit a written essay covering the current state of the videogame industry, and where they think it will move in the next 5 years.

How to Apply

Please submit an essay covering the current videogame industry, what direction(s) you think it will be moving to in the next 5 years, and why.

Your submission must be:

  • At least 1,500 words in length
  • Contain source-backed arguments
  • Contain citations from reliable sources

When done, please email your essay in a Word Document to admin [ at ], and also include your:

  • First & Last name
  • Telephone number
  • Mailing address
  • University/College name
  • Field of study
  • Proof that you are a student (a picture of a school ID is preferred)

Deadline for Application

The deadline to apply is July 1, 2017. If you missed it, don’t worry! This is a recurring annual scholarship.


This scholarship is only for students currently enrolled in colleges or universities.

Your submission must be unique and creative, and your writing style  must be able to convince readers that you know what you are talking about.

An internal team will judge your essay based on how logical your argument is, the creativity therein, and the value of the information provided.


A $1,000 USD scholarship will be provided to your university or college of choice.

Dane started off gaming at the tender age of 3 with the first Atari console. His favorite video game genres are turn-based RPGs (can I get a shout out for Tactics Ogre?) and fighting games.

Dane also attends EVO every year. He hopes to one day get into the top-64 there.
