If things would’ve gone differently at camp Bethesda some years ago, instead of Fallout 3 we could have possibly been playing a Star Trek RPG instead. “There was a pitch to do a big Star Trek RPG,” Executive Producer Todd Howard said on Kotaku’s Talk Radio. “[But] we were doing other things, we made Fallout. We can’t do everything.”
Bethesda never started developing the game, but according to Howard they were pondering on setting the game in the original series’ era, likely Kirk and all. Which just makes the news that mush sadder..
“I want the big Star Trek RPG that you go out and explore the universe,” Howard said, a void that the upcoming Star Trek Online MMO will perhaps fill.
