The rest of the chair is made out of solid steel and durable plastic, although it’s recommended to be careful while constructing the chair. Assembly can be a bit tedious and it’s important to assembly correctly to make sure the frame doesn’t get damaged. They’re pricier than most competitors, but that’s usually compensated with a great looking design and the best possible image quality.
The DOH Racing Series Newedge Edition is a perfect example of delivering the best possible quality for a relatively modest price point. With a near three-hundred-dollar price tag, the DOH series can definitely be described as a premium product. A lot of DXRacer products are quite similar and most benefits and caveats apply to all models.
One thing that DXRacer is known for is its excellent ergonomics and build quality. You’ll notice that the backrest is a bit higher than most competing models – this is not only to accommodate larger gamers but is also provides extra support for your neck and spine. The back rest is quite large as well so this definitely is a good choice for some of the larger users.
Build quality is also exceptionally great: everything from the frame to the padding looks and feels great. The base is sturdy and durable. The superior build quality does come at a price as DXRacers (and this particular chair in particular) aren’t very portable and can be a pain to move around. You’ll need a bit of technical knowledge (or a lot of patience) to assemble the DOH Newedge Edition.
Adjustability is truly its forte, you can go ahead and tilt the entire back section, adjust the height of the armrests and you can even fiddle with the seat back settings. DXRacers provides a duo of soft cushions for even higher comfort: one for the head area and the neck and a larger lumbar cushion as well. Ventilation is possible thanks to the openings in the upper back section.

What happens when you mix style with comfort? The SL4000 Racing Series by Vertagear are somewhat similar in design to other racer models from DXRacer and some other brands, but still manages to stand out above the competition with its interesting color combinations and great no-nonsense design.
The Vertagear SL4000 chairs don’t retail for anything less than a couple of hundred bucks, but you definitely get your money’s worth. Build quality of these chairs is excellent and is on-par if not better than similarly priced models from DXRacer thanks to the excellent aluminum alloy. The pneumatic height adjustment is quite powerful and you’ll be adjusting your height with very little effort.
Comfort is another factor where Vertagear has a lot of attention for and the leather padding feels absolutely great and the chair does a great job at being ergonomically ideal. The height is completely adjustable and the vast majority of gamers won’t have any issue fitting in in this Vertagear chair. A great and somewhat oversized lumbar cushion is included and the head cushion conveniently hides the ventilation.
The armrests are adjustable and in more than one way. Vertagear likes to call these 4D-adjustable and while that mainly sounds like a marketing gimmick, adjustability definitely applies to this chair. You can tweak the rests and have them perfectly aligned with your body and the rest of the chair.
In contrast to other high-end racing chairs, the SL4000 series is fairly easy to assemble thanks to the picture-perfect instructions. The LexMod Veer is one of the most popular office chairs on the market and with good reason: you can get a comfortable chair with decent armrests, relatively high comfort, and good height adjustment (essentials for longer gaming sessions) for a very affordable price. Check price on Amazon.
While the Veer isn’t a gaming chair per se, it’s hard to find a more comfortable chair in this price category. You’ll notice that the back of the chair is made out of mesh which makes the chair quite breathable. And while it may sound a bit like a marketing gimmick, the ventilation definitely helps for intensive gamers.
The seat is made out of durable sponge and has been given the identical mesh fabric treatment to maintain the mesh style of this product. It is a bit thin though, so keep that in mind if you’re quite sensitive to that.
The armrests don’t exactly scream excellent quality, but they definitely get the job done. A handy pro is that the armrests can flip up when they’re not in use, ideal if you want to get something more compact or want a little bit of freedom in your movements.
As you might expect from a budget option, this chair isn’t particularly versatile in terms of tilting. The back is fixed but the chair is comfortable to sit in and is pretty lightweight as well. Some technical assembly is required and it might take you a while if you’re not too savvy, but putting the chair together isn’t too much of a hassle.

The High-Back Executive Chair private label chair by Amazon isn’t only the #1 best seller in the office chairs department, it also scores very highly in customer reviews at four and a half stars.
Now, the AmazonBasics High-Back Executive Chair probably won’t win any comfort prizes but for a chair that costs just a little over a hundred bucks the amount of comfort provided is very impressive. The chair also has quite a high-end look and feel with the chrome and metallic accents and the nice black leather design.
Build quality is fantastic and the chair feels very sturdy and while the Executive Chair definitely is a larger product, assembly is fairly easy thanks to the detailed instructions. This chair is also ideal for taller or larger gamers that require more back and neck support. The seating is also fairly deep and it’s easier to sit in a more relaxed position.
In terms of ergonomics you can’t adjust the armrests, but there is pneumatic height adjustment and you can also adjust the amount of resistance needed to tilt the backrest a bit with the knob underneath the seat.
Being made out of (fake) leather this chair can get warm pretty fast so it’s not the best option if you’re looking for something ventilated. That being said, if you’re on a budget and need a good office chair that can definitely stand out in gaming sessions it’s hard to look past the AmazonBasics Executive.

This nice-looking chair from Homall is one of the more affordable options available and can regularly be found at a massive discount. Its major pro is that it’s a chair that was built for gaming from the ground up and isn’t a glorified office chair. You also notice the Homall has a ‘racing’ style that is often seen on the more expensive gaming chairs.
There are a number of different variations of the Homall Desk Chair. Two of those have a nice Red color, but the model as seen above has fixed armrests and uses more striking leather in its design. The other available models in this series of gaming chairs feature a more distinct and futuristic look with adjustable armrests. Those are available in Blue, Camouflage and another variation of Red.
Comfort Is fairly high and the seat has a really good feel to it. The headrest is also made out of softer leather and will do its best to support your neck.
Do keep in mind that some of the models have a slightly different price tag. The most expensive option is the Camouflage chair while the Red version with the fixed armrests will cost you less.
Build quality is definitely above average and the leather finish feels nice and quite comfortable. It can get a bit warmer if you’re gaming for longer sessions at a time, but that’s merely a characteristic of the leather material. Whlie the Merax Racing Style gaming chair is available for a lower price point, it definitely has the distinctive look of a more expensive gaming chair with flashing colors, a healthy mixture of leather and plastic and a head cushion.
One of the first things you’ll notice is that this Merax chair is also a bit taller and offers a sitting height of up to 20.5 inch. The frame of the chair is built out of solid steel with a lot of added PVC elements added such as the armrests. While the PVC feels good, it’s not quite up to par for higher-quality materials and it the comfort of the armrests could definitely be improved. Build quality isn’t fantastic and although it’s best not to expect any wonders from a budget chair, some similarly priced competitors have the upper hand in this.
Merax also includes two cushions: a larger one for the lower back which is great for people who don’t or can’t sit deeply into the gaming chair and another more traditional cushion for the lower head area. It definitely gives the Merax Racing a slight edge above other competitors in this price range in terms of comfort and usability.
Despite using a lot of leather as the padding, the openings in the neck area allow for some much-needed ventilation during the more intensive gaming sessions. Overall, comfort is quite high. The (faux) leather is made of a decent quality and sits very well.
Another major benefit of this Merax gaming chair is the fact that you’re able to swivel it back up to almost 170 degrees which is ideal for more relaxed positions. Unfortunately, Merax does not offer the same amount of versatility for the armrests as they are fixed in place.
In terms of color options your mileage may vary. There are a number of different combinations available which are mostly black with an added secondary color such as blue, yellow, orange or green. There are also a few special editions such as a reverse black-red chair but they’ll retail for significantly more.

Console gaming chairs – although gaming seat or rocker chair might be a better term – offer more comfort that is typical for relaxed gaming sessions on your handheld, Xbox or PlayStation where everything you need to hold is just the controller.
A fantastic rocker chair that is inexpensive but offers a decent quality is the 51491 Extreme III 2.0 by X Rocker. I’m not particularly fond of their naming practices, but the products they deliver definitely impress. The chair is fairly versatile and does feel very relaxed.
As with most gaming rocker chairs, an integrated sound solution is also provided. As the name of the product somewhat insinuates there’s a 2.0 stereo speaker solution built-in directly into this X Rocker chair. It offers a better surround experiences because the sound is produced directly on both sides of the chai, but it’s best not to expect too much in regards of sound quality. The average headset or home cinema will definitely perform better, although it’s a definite improvement over television audio.
A bass is unfortunately lacking and that can make the sound a bit lackluster. You can use the sound via the RCA outputs (the familiar red and white tulip ports) or just a standard 3,5-millimeter jack. Most current consoles don’t offer support for RCA, so this feature is definitely a bit outdated. It might come in handy for retro consoles, however.
In terms of build quality this X Rocker won’t be able to match the chairs with wheels in this overview but it can definitely hold its own. The seating is made out of polyester and a combination of high-quality mesh and foam.

The market of gaming chairs for consoles is mostly dominated by a single brand and with good reason: they have plenty of options in multiple price categories and they’re all high-quality seats. The Pro H3 is definitely a step-up compared to the previous X Rocker chair in this list and has a better-looking fabric design and higher comfort.
Next to build quality and comfort, there are some other highly important differences. You’ll also notice that X Rocker tries to emulate a leather design, but it’s actually fabric with high quality stitching.
Armrests are included this time for some additional comfort. Luckily, it’s still fairly easy to assemble the gaming chair as you just have to click these armrests in place.
The integrated audio solution has been given a major upgrade compared to the more affordable X Rocker products. There is a total of four speakers installed for a better surround experience and there’s also an included subwoofer in order to provide a decent bass. In terms of connectivity you can choose between RCA plugs or you could just connect via a regular headphone jack.
X Rocker also includes a wireless receiver for the RCA-inputs. As I’ve mentioned above it’s a bit outdated especially when using the chair with the current generation of consoles, which is why the 3,5-mm port will come in particularly handy.
A truly killer feature of this X Rocker 51259 Pro (I’m still confusing why they name these things so confusingly) is the inclusion of vibration motors.
