Miyamoto, Iwata debut on Nintendo’s Miiverse

Miiverse on has so far been a way for Wii U users (Wii Users?) to discuss the games that they are playing, among other things. Now, it looks like the scope of Miiverse is expanding, as both Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and legendary game producer Shigeru Miyamoto have debuted on the network in the past week.

On Wednesday, Iwata posted his first Miiverse message to discuss in further detail the Wii U system update that has been scheduled for this spring. The update will take place in April and will improve the time it takes for the Wii U to launch software. The time it takes for players to return to the Wii U menu will also be shortened.

On Friday, Miyamoto announced in his first Miiverse message that 2013 is the Year of Luigi. With Miiverse soon to debut on platforms such as PC and smartphones, it seems like the perfect time for Iwata and Miyamoto to announce their presences on the network. Miiverse should be a great way in the future for the two Nintendo bigwigs to communicate directly with their passionate fan base.

Open the bio of Aaron Yorke

Aaron is a big Nintendo fan living in suburban New Jersey. While his favorite game publisher hasn’t been very consistent in putting out legendary offerings lately, he’ll always come back to his Wii (or Wii U) for the next Mario or Zelda title. That’s probably because Mario and Link are the two heroes who first introduced him to videogames.

The first game Aaron fell in love with was Super Mario World, but The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was his first obsession. Despite the outstanding 3D Zelda games to come out starting with 1998’s Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past will always be Aaron’s favorite game. That’s likely due to the hours spent battling Ganon’s minions that defined his life as a six-year-old.

In more modern times, Aaron will dabble in shooters and RPGs. Despite the fact that he’s now in his mid-20s, he’s still an incurable Pokémon fanatic. Gritty, realistic shooters are great, but Aaron will always prefer the colorful fantasy lands produced by Nintendo games.

Aaron’s greatest triumph in gaming was when he finally defeated Ganon in the original Legend of Zelda. His greatest disappointment is that Yoshi’s Story is on the Wii’s virtual console, but Yoshi’s Island isn’t.

While Aaron is a big sports fan, he’s upset that the current landscape of sports games “forces” fans to buy a new title every year, even when an online update would suffice in most cases. Though he enjoys all Mario Karts, he’s adamant that Mario Kart 64 is overrated and Mario Kart: Double Dash is underrated.
