Ghostbusters in the 80’s was what Men In Black is to us today. It was a major success garnering a huge following around the world, eventually spawning a music video, comic books, a cartoon show, toys, oh and we can’t forget a sequel. Now Sierra and Terminal Reality are putting the final touches on the videogame based off these beloved movies. The game will be a sequel to the second movie in the franchise with the entire ghost busting squad, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray reprising their roles as voice actors. Although even with all the main busters back, one member will be missing in action.
Rick Moranis, a Canadian comedian and the 5th Ghostbuster said absolutely no to reprising his role as the quirky Louis Tully AKA the Keymaster. According to one of the producers on the game, Moranis, who was also the star of the Honey I Shrunk the Kids films, apparently made so much money from those movies that he has completely retired from performing.
It’s sad and funny at the same time, because of course it is his right to retire whenever he sees fit. But out of a pure creative desire you would think he would want to help add to the authenticity of the game by reprising his role. Could you imagine if Tom Hanks, Will Smith or Denzel Washington retired after making their fortunes, we would have missed out on some of the best movies of all time. Man on Fire anyone?
Ghostbusters The Video Game is scheduled for release in October on all major platforms.
