Thanks to the success of Persona 3 and Persona 4, it’s a reasonable assumption that the recently announced Japan-only remake of Persona 1 for the PSP will eventually make the mecca stateside. Until then, we will have to make do with this enigmatic but beautiful promo trailer, which shows how much this seminal series has changed over the years.
Revelations: Persona, originally released on the PS1, obviously doesn’t have the same aesthetic appeal of the more recent iterations, its lack of a social links system and modified battle structure making it a closer cousin to the Shin Megami Tensei series, with its first-person dungeon crawling and ability to communicate with demons during battle. But it’s still every bit a Persona game, featuring a group of modern day high school kids battling dark forces. Dark forces that sometimes takes the form of killer toilets.
Whether this turns out to be a complete remake, as reported earlier this year by Famitsu, or merely an enhanced port, we can’t wait to see the new cut scenes, hear the new music, and relive the new(ish) adventure ourselves.
